Our Directors
Sarah Raine and James Fauset co-founded Montfleur Partners having previously worked together in a FTSE 250 company. They set out to combine experience in think tanks, macro financial markets, diplomacy and geopolitical strategy alongside a strong understanding of scenario planning techniques. Their goal is to deliver a bespoke service to investors and corporates who are continuously striving to understand an uncertain world that is changing at pace. They were later joined by a third director, Kate Cranfield, who brings with her a wealth of experience in the political risk advisory sector.

Director
James Fauset is a Director and Head of Clients at Montfleur.
James has worked in macro financial markets for almost 25 years, with a focus on tracking economic and political developments to the benefit of clients and investors. His investment bank sell-side career finished at Goldman Sachs as a Managing Director in FICC Sales to Institutional investors.
James went on to work for five years at Brevan Howard fund investing in macro markets and advising on European political developments, based out of Geneva. His most recent venture was as a co-founder of COEX, an advisory broking company which was bought by the FTSE 250 firm TP ICAP in 2017. He has a degree in History and Education from Cambridge University.
Sarah Raine
Director
Sarah Raine is a Director and Managing Partner at Montfleur.
Sarah previously worked as Head of European Political Strategy for the FX arm of the financial services firm COEX. She has also worked in the think tank world on issues of Asian and European security for more than fifteen years, from bases in Singapore, Berlin and London. She is a Senior Consulting Fellow for Geopolitics and Strategy at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a non-governmental think tank specialising in issues of global security, political risk and military conflict. She is the author of three books and numerous articles on international affairs.
Sarah began her career working in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, during which time she was posted to the Balkans. She holds an MPhil in International Relations and an MA in History (First Class) from Cambridge University.
Kate Cranfield
Director
Kate Cranfield is a Director and Head of European Strategy at Montfleur.
Kate has spent her career in the political risk advisory sector helping clients develop and maintain long term investment strategies. She was previously head of Integrated Insights, a boutique consultancy specialising in strategic analysis, which she ran during five years living in Paris.
Kate has previously worked in the Economics and Country Risk team at IHS, with a focus on the energy sector and began her career working in marketing and sales for Exclusive Analysis. Kate has a BA in Politics with Mandarin Chinese from the University of Exeter and speaks fluent French.
